Standards for Of Mice and Men Unit

The following are the standards / objectives we will be accomplishing through our study of Of Mice and Men:
1.  Analyze works of literature for what is suggested about the historical period in which they were written.
2. Analyze the moral dilemmas in works of literature, as revealed by character motivation and behavior.
3. Identify, analyze, and evaluate the development of the theme(s) of a literary text.
4. Differentiate between verbal, situational, and dramatic irony.
5. Identify and analyze an author’s point of view.
6. Determine the impact of setting on literary elements.
7.  Locate words or phrases in a passage that provide historical or cultural cues.
